Who are you?

Thoughts that haunt your mind Thoughts in your head that cause you stress Head wrecking thoughts that you feel will take away your soul But they are not you, definitely not you Explore these thoughts that are only there to help you grow For it is black that needs the white It is good that needs the bad It is the morning that needs the night It is you that needs the real you Wisdom needs the stupid Sadness needs the joy Death needs life But you will need you Thoughts that maybe hurting in your mind Only there to help you grow Listen to them but remember these thoughts need you Be strong in your thoughts as the day is to night For it is there that you will find you and who you are to be You need you to be the you, YOU are Grow in your life and be who you are

Dreams – William Peskett

I came across this poem in a book “The Irish Poets 1924-1974 edited by David Marcus and thought I would love to share it with you. Dreams In truth I cannot reach you, I’m caged within my nerves and there I pace tight circuits Finding exit only when my systems sleep. Inside, I fumble with keys and combinations which betray no function from within. I think that I must know my dreams to see myself perform. And if we could play them back like tapes- we’d meet in limbo, we’d integrate, know. In apprehensive paradise we’d fear we weren’t ourselves.   Written by William Peskett

How Do I know Love

How Do I know Love True love comes to us all You should not let love pass you by How do you know that this is true love True love is for you both to grow into who you are Know what true love does not make you one How do I know and what do I do Looking inside and not without for love that you have Trust in your feeling and let go of your fears Showing one’s heart will certainly allow ones love to come out Love is for giving, love is not for hiding away Love is not love until you give it away Love grows as you grow and shows you as you are True love brings laughter and smiles in your life Sunshine to your face and a spring in your walk If you listen to your heart you will hear love’s call Love let’s you grow and minds you when you fall Love takes care of you if you give it away Love comes back to you from the one you love How do I know, just let your love go ©Mel Clifford

What Are You Waiting For?

Thanks to Andy Smith for another great poem –composed by Andy in 2005 WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Build my castles highest while I’m walking This earth, its time to givith of your praise For kindness spoken at the hour of passing Is a fraction worth of kindness to one’s face And what of love felt deeply, but not spoken And what of all the gifts bestowed, unused When passion’s fires are tamed to but a flicker Call this life? I call it life abused. Andy Smiths Contact Details Corragarrow, Melview, Longford. Ireland ajsmith@iol.ie

Good Morning to My Day

Good Morning to My Day What will I bring you this day a surprise? Thoughts in my mind of fun and maybe a smile I am awake now and ready for you Not dressed but thinking of what I shall wear for you today Something fun and colourful to show you First I shall wash and clean for you I‘ll not ask you to wait for you shall not So I must hurry and be ready for you As you will quickly run away Ok I’ll not lay here thinking about you any longer I am ready for my day Friends I must see and smile and laugh with Things I must do to bring happiness But what if I just stay here and not meet you today You will pass and I will not have the opportunity to say hello So I must hurry and be ready for you now Oh! What about tomorrow is that not another day will I not wait till then I laughed and said I think not, for this is my day

Accross The Bar

This is a poem my sister gave me recently. It is written in the hand writing of my late mother who passed away last year. Recorded on an old piece of wall paper. I can only guess it was written about her Father who served in the British Navy during World War 1 Across The Bar He sits at the bar Surrounded by smoke Stares in his beer Nobody spoke Elderly, grey Perhaps deep in a dream Nobody speaking Nor asks what he’s seen Drinking too much Is he trying to forget? Hours in the sea Is the cold with him yet? Over the months I hear bits of his story Convoy Commander Once fighting for glory Who is to know Why the chap in the corner Drinks himself stupid Now old and a loner Oh! write me not off When you see me at first Perhaps I have reason For quenching my thirst   Margaret Keady – Circa late 1930
